About Laurel House and The Northgate Group Laurel House Antiques enjoys a rich history from its beginnings in 1947. Started as a means of raising money for the Marin Art and Garden Center, it has grown throughout the years to be a highly recognized shop in California.Surrounded by the stunning gardens of the Marin Art and Garden Center, it is a unique shopping experience. At the Center, one can enjoy a stroll through the rose garden, view an art exhibit, take in a play, bring a picnic to the gazebo lawn area, and delight in the wonderful antiques and collectibles in the different buildings of Laurel House. Laurel House has two areas where they show merchandise: the Shop and the Asian Room. The Shop features a wide variety of items including art, tableware, china, lighting, and collectibles. The Asian Room specializes in Asian art and antiques. Most of the women working at Laurel House are members of The Northgate Group. The members are a dedicated group of volunteers that provides an enormous amount of time and expertise to make the Laurel House a premier antiques shop. Laurel House and the Northgate Group are pleased to sponsor the popular Patio Sales which occur throughout the year. Each upcoming Patio Sale date will be posted on the door of Laurel House as well as advertised in the IJ and Craig's List.
